İhsan Cemal Karaburçak: A Painter of Color
Presented at Casa Botter, İhsan Cemal Karaburçak: A Painter of Color explored the work of one of the most distinctive self-taught figures in modern Turkish painting. Bringing together works spanning different periods of the artist's career, the exhibition traced the evolution of a highly personal visual language, in which observation gradually gave way to abstraction, memory, and colour as the primary means of expression. Known for his singular use of colour—particularly his characteristic violets—Karaburçak developed a painterly language shaped by lived experience, travel, and visual memory rather than academic conventions. The exhibition revealed how recurring motifs, symbolic forms, and layered compositions transformed everyday observations into an intensely personal yet universal visual world.
