Yok Olmadan
Presented at Taş Mektep as the venue's inaugural exhibition following its restoration, Yok Olmadan (Before They Disappear) featured photographs by İbrahim Akgün documenting historic buildings that have fallen into neglect across Istanbul, with a particular focus on the Princes' Islands. Through photographs and video, the exhibition recorded these endangered sites as fragile carriers of the city's architectural and cultural memory. By bringing together images of abandoned mansions, schools, hotels, and public buildings, the exhibition invited visitors to reflect on loss, preservation, and the changing urban landscape. Installed within the newly restored Taş Mektep, the works established a dialogue between the building's own story of conservation and the threatened heritage documented in Akgün's photographs.
