Living Drawings and Their Drawers
Presented at the Istanbul Cartoon and Humour Museum, Living Drawings and Their Drawers: A Selection of Turkish Cartoon Masters' Original Works brought together original drawings by eighty leading cartoonists, offering a broad overview of the history and diversity of Turkish cartoon art. Combining original works with biographical narratives, the exhibition celebrated the enduring legacy of artists whose drawings continue to shape the cultural memory of humour and satire in Türkiye. The exhibition design translated the curatorial narrative into a concentric spatial arrangement. At the centre, visitors encountered a chronological account of the history of Turkish cartooning, while the surrounding gallery introduced the featured artists through their original works and life stories. This layered organization established a dialogue between the broader history of the medium and the individual voices that have shaped it, allowing visitors to move continuously between collective history and personal practice.
